Fans blast Meghan Markle over “fake” video with Prince Harry

It has now been five years since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped away from the Royal Family. After a brief stay in Toronto, the couple settled in Montecito, California — and it seems that their time in Canada left a lasting impression on Harry.

Recently, Meghan shared a video online celebrating the Los Angeles Dodgers’ victory over Harry’s team, the Toronto Blue Jays, in the World Series. But instead of being well-received, the clip has sparked controversy, with critics accusing her of faking it.

A New Life and New Passions in America

Since leaving royal life behind in 2020, Harry and Meghan’s world has transformed completely. The pair have ventured into various projects and business deals, while also embracing American culture. For Harry, that appears to include developing an interest in baseball — a sport not typically associated with British royals.

Before settling in their luxurious Montecito home, located about an hour and a half from Los Angeles, the couple lived for a time in Toronto. Over the years, they’ve often been spotted out together at concerts, charity events, and sports games across the LA area.

Just last week, Harry and Meghan were seen sitting front row as the Los Angeles Dodgers faced off against the Toronto Blue Jays in the World Series. A few days later, when the Dodgers clinched the championship title, the couple watched the final game from home.

In the video Meghan later posted, she’s seen gleefully celebrating the Dodgers’ win — jumping, clapping, and cheering — while Harry sits quietly in the background, appearing disappointed by his team’s loss.

Meghan Accused of “Staging” the Celebration

However, Meghan’s lighthearted post didn’t land as she might have hoped. The black-and-white video, uploaded to Instagram, quickly drew backlash, with many online critics accusing her of setting up the moment for attention.

Comments flooded in, calling the video insincere and overly rehearsed. One user wrote, according to Express: “Totally normal to set a camera up recording yourself for another forced narrative when you’re Meghan Markle. Cringe-o-rama again.”

Another questioned, “Does Harry realise she is recording his every move inside his own home and can easily release the footage when it suits her?”

Others were even more direct, with one remarking, “So staged! She looks absolutely ridiculous,” while another added, “So FAKE and CRINGE! Makes me want to hurl.”

What was likely meant to be a playful glimpse into the couple’s private life has instead reignited debate over Meghan’s authenticity — a topic that continues to follow her long after leaving royal life behind.
