Prince William hangs out with Hannah Waddingham and Stella McCartney at Earthshot event

The Prince of Wales is at a panel session at the inaugural Earthshot Prize Innovation Camp in London.

Prince William is brushing shoulders with celebrities, including actress Hannah Waddingham and fashion designer Stella McCartney, at a special Earthshot event in London this afternoon.

The Prince of Wales, 42, has joined a panel session at the inaugural Earthshot Prize Innovation Camp to celebrate the impact of Earthshot Prize Finalists and global climate innovators during London Climate Action Week.

The ‘Stories of Impact’ event showcased inspiring news from Earthshot Prize Finalists and partners, and highlighted collaborations being formed to scale and accelerate progress for climate solutions.

William launched Earthshot in 2020 to search for and scale the most innovative solutions to the world’s greatest environmental challenges. He hopes the £1million prize money will incentivise change and help to repair our planet over the next decade.

The Prince has met with Michael R. Bloomberg, Founder of Bloomberg Philanthropies and Global Advisor to The Earthshot Prize Winners, and key partners before joining the audience and hearing the stories of three finalists who will share their progress and ambitions to date.

The Prince joined a panel session moderated by Hannah Waddingham, with Hannah Jones, Earthshot Prize Chief Executive, and Tokunboh Ishmael, Earthshot Prize Trustee, where they reflected on the success of The Prize so far and their ambitions for its future.

Dressed in a dark suit and turquoise patterned tie, Prince William arrived at the event in central London in the afternoon, ready to discuss environmental matters.

The Earthshot Prize Finalists on stage will include Nidhi Pant, Co-Founder of S4S Technologies, Meaghan Brosnan, CCO of WildAid, Manja Kargbo, Lead of Freetown the Treetown, Chris Kastern, Director of Growth from Abalobi and Charlot Magayi, Founder & CEO of Mukuru Clean Stoves.

Earthshot Prize Innovation Camp participants are due to hear from special guests including renowned fashion designer Sella McCartney, and also hear from video messages by American businessman, Bill Gates.

The Earthshot Prize Innovation Camp is designed for 50 innovators reflecting the richness and diversity of The Earthshot Prize’s climate portfolio.

Throughout the day-long programme, these innovators will connect with experts, investors, and business leaders to scale and accelerate capital towards transformative climate solutions. The sessions in the day will include skill-building, and networking opportunities.

The Earthshot Prize was launched by Prince William in 2020 to search for and scale the most innovative solutions to the world’s greatest environmental challenges.

Prince William created it to tackle “some of the world’s greatest environmental challenges” after believing the earth had reached a “tipping point” as the Prince previously explained to Sir David Attenborough.
