Tom Cruise, 62, Was Criticized for His Appearance during His Stint at the Olympic Games

Tom Cruise became the subject of intense speculation following his appearance at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games closing ceremony on Sunday, August 11.

The Mission: Impossible star, known for his high-octane stunts, delivered a breathtaking performance, descending from the top of the Stade de France after H.E.R. performed “The Star-Spangled Banner.”

His signature sky-diving and motorcycle stunts wowed the crowd, but it was his appearance that sparked a different kind of buzz online.

As Cruise, now 62, made his way through a sea of athletes and dignitaries, including Simone Biles and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, to receive the Olympic flag, viewers couldn’t help but notice something different about his face. The actor, famous for doing his own stunts and maintaining a youthful appearance, looked noticeably altered, leading many to question whether he had undergone cosmetic procedures.

One user on X (formerly known as Twitter) remarked: “Did Tom Cruise have work done on his face? At 1st glance, he resembled Don Johnson. Asking for a friend.”

Another added: “What in the narcissism is Tom Cruise and his bloated face doing up there? Sir, get down before you break a hip.”

The speculation continued with comments such as: “Tom Cruise appears to have overdone the fillers a bit,” and “Tom Cruise has WAY too much Botox.”

Dermal fillers, which are gel-like substances injected beneath the skin to restore lost volume and smooth out wrinkles, have become a popular facial rejuvenation treatment, with over a million men and women opting for the procedure each year, according to the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery.

The most common fillers are made of hyaluronic acid, a substance that can last anywhere from 6 to 18 months. Botox, another popular treatment, works by relaxing the facial muscles to reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles.

Rumors about Cruise’s possible plastic surgery procedures are not new. Over the years, the actor has been the subject of speculation about potential nose jobs, Botox, hair transplants, and even veneers.

Despite this, Cruise has consistently denied ever going under the knife. In a 2012 interview with Playboy magazine, he was asked if he had ever had surgery, to which he responded, “I haven’t and never would.”

Nevertheless, Cruise’s appearance has often been a topic of discussion. Fans noted that he looked “inflated” and “puffy” at the 2016 BAFTAs, while at the Mission Impossible: Fallout premiere in 2018, he appeared leaner, with more visible lines on his forehead.

While Cruise’s youthful looks and action-packed performances continue to captivate audiences, the ongoing debate about his changing appearance remains a point of fascination, fueling both admiration and curiosity.

As the world looks forward to the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, the spotlight on Tom Cruise—and his face—shows no sign of dimming.
