Prince Harry Speaks Out On Family Tragedy As Meghan Markle ‘In Tears’

Prince Harry has spoken out about a personal loss, while Meghan Markle has shared that she has “cried too many tears to count.”

The Duke of Sussex, who stepped down from his role as a senior royal in 2020 alongside his wife, remains deeply committed to the Invictus Games, an event he founded in 2014 to support wounded, injured, and sick military personnel.

This year, the international competition is taking place in Vancouver, Canada. Both Prince Harry and Markle attended, though the duchess returned home after a few days to be with their children.

Despite appearing cheerful and exchanging pleasantries, the couple has recently faced a heartbreaking loss.

This comes during an already challenging period for them, with ongoing rumors about a “professional” separation and speculation regarding their marriage.

The couple’s solo public appearances have fueled further discussion about the state of their relationship. Though Prince Harry has dismissed the divorce rumors, speculation persists.

However, rather than addressing the reports, the couple presented a united front at the Invictus Games.

During a wheelchair curling match, Prince Harry made a sorrowful admission.

While meeting a black Labrador named Thorn, who supports the mental health of first responders, he reportedly shared with the dog’s owner, Ali Harper, how much he misses his own dog, Guy, who passed away just weeks earlier.

Harper told People magazine: “Harry came right over and sat down right next to Thorn and kneeled down and started petting him and said how much he misses his dog.”

Markle had announced the passing of their beloved beagle on January 7, sharing a montage of photos and videos on Instagram.

In an emotional tribute, the duchess wrote:

“In 2015, I adopted a beagle from a dog rescue in Canada. He had been at a kill shelter in Kentucky and given a few days to live. I swooped him up… and fell in love.

“They referred to him as ‘the little guy’ because he was so small and frail, so I named him ‘Guy.’ And he was the best guy any girl could have asked for.

“If you followed me on Instagram back in the day, you saw a lot of him – and on The Tig too. He was with me at Suits, when I got engaged, (and then married), when I became a mom…. he was with me for everything: the quiet, the chaos, the calm, the comfort.”

Markle also revealed that before moving to the U.K., Guy suffered a “terrible accident” that required multiple surgeries, leaving him unable to leave the clinic. Though doctors initially believed he would never walk again, he defied the odds.

She concluded her post with heartfelt words:

“I have cried too many tears to count – the type of tears that make you get in the shower with the absurd hope that the running water on your face will somehow make you not feel them, or pretend they’re not there. But they are. And that’s OK too.

“Thank you for so many years of unconditional love, my sweet Guy. You filled my life in ways you’ll never know.”
