Kate Middleton’s sweet gesture to Prince William caught on camera while on special trip for wedding anniversary

Kate Middleton and Prince William have returned to the place where their romance first began to mark a special milestone—their 14th wedding anniversary.

On April 29, the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay, as they’re known while in Scotland, commemorated the occasion with a visit to the scenic town of Tobermory on the Isle of Mull. Crowds gathered along the streets to catch a glimpse of the couple, who first crossed paths more than 20 years ago while studying at the University of St Andrews.

Coordinated in smart blue shirts and blazers, the Prince and Princess of Wales appeared perfectly in step as they explored the island. During their visit, they stopped by a community center and artisan market, where Princess Kate drew admiration for lending a hand with a nail gun to build a sign for a local Community Pantry.

One moment in particular stood out to many observers. As they strolled through Tobermory, Kate turned to William with a radiant smile and gently touched his back—a sweet gesture that was captured on video and quickly spread online.

Later, a candid image shared via their Instagram story showed the couple laughing together inside Aros Hall, where they met local families and craftspeople.

The royal pair’s two-day stay in Scotland centers on highlighting community strength, sustainability, and the importance of connection. Ahead of their arrival, their social media platforms posted a teaser video for the trip.

“Welcome to the Inner Hebrides,” the caption read. “From exploring how islanders are protecting their natural world, to meeting young families who are shaping the future of rural life, we’re excited for an inspiring two days here celebrating the power of community and connection.”

The clip even featured Banjo Beale, a winner of BBC1’s Interior Design Masters, who now resides on the Isle of Mull.

Fans expressed their admiration in the comments section. “Happy anniversary to you both, and many happy years ahead,” one wrote. Another added, “Oh that’s such a beautiful place! I’m excited for your engagements tomorrow and on Wednesday! I have no doubts you two will have a wonderful time there and that the locals will welcome you with open arms.” A third commented, “Looking forward to these beautiful soulmates enjoying each other in beautiful Scotland.”

The visit will continue on April 30, with a trip to an ancient woodland, where the couple is expected to meet members of the Mull and Iona Ranger Service, a team devoted to conservation and outdoor education.

Scotland has always held deep meaning for the couple. It’s where their relationship began as friends before it blossomed into love. In their 2010 engagement interview, Prince William reflected on their early days, calling their friendship a “good sort of foundation.”

Since marrying at Westminster Abbey in 2011, the couple has become parents to three children: Prince George, now 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 7.
