Prince William and Kate Middleton’s sad verdict on Harry and Meghan reconciliation ‘revealed’

Prince William and Kate Middleton are said to be finding it increasingly difficult to mend their relationship with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Insiders say the couple have sadly come to the conclusion that reconciliation may no longer be possible, especially after Harry’s most recent public remarks.

A source close to the royals told Us Weekly that Harry’s latest BBC interview left the family feeling “hurt and betrayed.”

The Duke of Sussex gave the interview following his failed legal challenge regarding his downgraded security status in the UK. Since stepping back from royal duties in 2020, Harry and Meghan no longer receive automatic taxpayer-funded police protection, and security decisions are now made individually.

In the interview, Harry claimed that King Charles “won’t speak” to him, though he emphasized that he still hopes to repair the relationship despite the fallout from his memoir Spare and several revealing interviews over the years.

Notably, Harry didn’t mention Prince William or Kate during the conversation — something that reportedly caused even more pain behind palace doors.

William is more hurt than anything else,” a source said, speaking about the emotional aftermath. “[He and Kate] are not giving [Harry and Meghan] the time of day.”

According to the insider, William, 42, and Kate, 43, have been deliberately keeping their distance from Harry and Meghan to maintain a calmer, more peaceful home life.

One reason for this is to help Kate focus on her cancer recovery without added stress. The Princess of Wales went public with her diagnosis in March 2024 and shared in January 2025 that she’s now in remission.

The tension between the two couples has been ongoing for years. Meghan and Kate reportedly had a falling-out before Meghan and Harry’s wedding, when Princess Charlotte’s bridesmaid dress didn’t fit properly.

That disagreement is said to have left both women in tears.

Since Harry and Meghan stepped down from their royal roles in 2020 and moved to the U.S., their communication with the rest of the royal family has reportedly remained distant.

‘Kate will never see Meghan again’

In the latest update, an insider revealed that Kate has taken a firm stance, especially following Harry’s recent comments.

No one on the staff can mention Meghan’s name to Kate right now,” the source claimed. “Her name is essentially off-limits because it causes too much stress. Kate just doesn’t want to deal with it anymore.”

The source also hinted that if there’s any hope for reconciliation within the family, it would entirely depend on Harry — and Meghan wouldn’t be part of that process. According to the insider, Kate has no intention of ever seeing Meghan again.

Though Meghan is clearly a sensitive topic, the insider noted that she’s not solely to blame — Harry shares a lot of the responsibility as well.

While the relationship remains strained, the door isn’t completely closed for Harry. The source explained that William and Kate are still open to reconnecting with him “because he’s family.” But when it comes to Meghan, they’ve completely shut that door.

Looking ahead, the message from the Prince and Princess of Wales is clear. The source said William and Kate “don’t see a path forward until Harry can stay quiet.”
