In his revealing memoir Spare, Prince Harry shared that Meghan Markle was asked to apologize to Kate Middleton over a comment made up of just two words.
Released in January 2023, Spare took the world by surprise. At 40, Harry opened up like never before in the candid, nonfiction book published by Penguin Random House.
The memoir, which became a Sunday Times bestseller, was ghostwritten by J.R. Moehringer, a Pulitzer Prize-winning author whose previous work has inspired major films starring the likes of Samuel L. Jackson, George Clooney, and Ben Affleck.
Across 416 pages, Spare gave the Duke of Sussex a platform to share his personal perspective on the Royal Family — including honest reflections on his older brother Prince William, his father King Charles III, and his late mother, Princess Diana.
Among the most talked-about moments in the book, Harry described a physical confrontation with William, and revealed that his father would sometimes joke that Harry might not be his biological son.

In his memoir Spare, Harry also made another explosive claim — that Meghan had supposedly upset Kate Middleton with a comment she made shortly before their 2018 wedding at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle.
He explained that he and Meghan had gone to visit William and Kate in hopes of “clearing the air” between the two couples.
But during their time at Kensington Palace, Meghan was asked to apologise to Kate for something she had said earlier.
Apparently, the Suits star had been accused of offending the Princess of Wales by suggesting she might be experiencing “baby brain” after she forgot something minor.
“You talked about my hormones. We are not close enough for you to talk about my hormones!,” Kate reportedly said, according to Spare.
Harry also recalled William stepping in, pointing at Meghan and saying: “It’s not what’s done here in Britain.”

According to reports, Meghan replied to the Prince of Wales by telling him to “take [his] finger out of [her] face.”
Harry recalled, “Meg said she’d never purposely try to upset Kate. And if she ever did by accident, she asked Kate to let her know so it wouldn’t happen again. We ended up hugging — sort of.”
He also mentioned that Meghan was puzzled by Kate’s reaction, saying she had spoken to her the same way she would with her close friends.
In another part of Spare, Harry recounts finding Meghan in tears on the floor after a disagreement with Kate.
As they prepared for their wedding, Harry said Kate called Meghan to say there was an issue with Princess Charlotte’s flower girl dress, and that all the bridesmaid dresses needed to be redone.
Harry claimed that Kate consulted Sarah Burton, the designer behind her own wedding gown in 2011, and she too believed the dresses should be remade.
He added that Kate apologized the following day, bringing Meghan flowers and a card.
