Speaking with Royal Insider on behalf of Spin Genie, Stanton suggested that although Camilla managed the situation gracefully, there were clear non-verbal cues indicating tension.

One such cue, he noted, was what professionals call a “masking smile” — a smile that doesn’t truly reflect inner emotions.

“Camilla’s smile didn’t reach her eyes,” Stanton explained. “When someone smiles authentically, you see movement around the eyes — crow’s feet, relaxed muscles. But her smile appeared polite, possibly used to cover up stress or distraction.”

The Hat That Stole Attention

While riding alongside King Charles from Buckingham Palace, Queen Camilla appeared to keep one hand on her hat, possibly bracing against the wind or ensuring it stayed secure. Though it may seem like a minor detail, Stanton believes it signaled something deeper.

“Her eyes were fixed inward,” he added. “Rather than engaging with the crowd, her focus seemed to be on managing a quiet internal dialogue — something along the lines of, ‘Just don’t let the hat slip.’”

These subtle behaviors, according to Stanton, suggest the Queen was very aware of the cameras — and possibly trying to minimize any visible fuss.

A Composed Response, Despite the Pressure

Despite the minor wardrobe distractions, Stanton was quick to emphasize Camilla’s professionalism. Even under pressure, she presented a composed image for millions of viewers across the globe.

“She could have removed the hat,” he said, “but that might have drawn even more attention — which she clearly wanted to avoid. Her response was calculated, respectful of the setting, and ultimately effective.”

While most spectators may have missed the subtleties, Camilla’s presence at the event highlights the pressures public figures face — balancing elegance, ceremony, and personal discomfort, all under intense scrutiny.
