Meghan Markle shares clip of Harry’s solo UK return as she remains in America with children

Meghan Markle gave fans a glimpse of her husband’s latest royal outing by reposting a heartwarming video from Prince Harry’s trip to the UK for the 20th Anniversary WellChild Awards.

On Tuesday, September 9, the Duchess of Sussex shared footage on Instagram Stories of Harry playfully fencing with balloon swords alongside nine-year-old Gwen Foster, who was born with spina bifida and hydrocephalus. Meghan added two pink heart emojis to the clip, which had first been posted by Hello! magazine’s TikTok account.

The WellChild Awards, which Harry has supported as patron since 2007, celebrate the courage of seriously ill children and the families who care for them. “Prince Harry is in his element at the WellChild awards!” Hello! captioned the video.

Harry in His Element at WellChild

While mingling with attendees, Harry chatted with 13-year-old award recipient Grace Tutt, telling her that he and Meghan have recently been watching the political thriller Hostage and the popular reality show Love Is Blind.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex now live in Montecito, California, with their two children, Prince Archie, six, and Princess Lilibet, four.

A Return to Nottingham

Later that day, Harry traveled to Nottingham — the city closely linked to his and Meghan’s very first joint royal engagement back in December 2017.

At the Community Recording Studio, supported by BBC Children in Need, he watched young performers showcase their rap skills, even stepping on stage to hug one of them.

A Major Donation and Heartfelt Words

During his speech, Harry announced a personal donation of £1.1 million to the charity to strengthen youth programs aimed at reducing violence and knife crime. He spoke warmly about Nottingham, saying the city holds “a permanent place” in his heart after years of work with grassroots groups.

Before leaving, he sampled some local jerk chicken, joking with the crowd: “It really is banging,” which was met with laughter and applause.

Harry ended his visit with a short walkabout, greeting members of the public gathered outside the venue. He shook hands, posed for photos, and shared a few words with well-wishers before heading back to his car.
