Prince Harry insists he didn’t air his ‘dirty laundry’ in Spare as he reveals the state of his relationship with King Charles

Prince Harry has made fresh remarks about the Royal Family, shedding light on his relationship with King Charles just days after the pair reunited for the first time in nearly two years.

In a new interview, the Duke of Sussex insisted he did not air his “dirty laundry” in Spare, his bestselling memoir that broke records with 3.2 million copies sold in its first week of release in January 2023.

Defending His Memoir

The book included explosive claims about royal life, admissions of drug use, and accusations that Queen Camilla had leaked stories to the press.

Speaking to The Guardian in Kyiv, Harry defended his decision to write it, saying: “One point of view had been put out, and it needed to be corrected. I don’t believe that I aired my dirty laundry in public. It was a difficult message, but I did it in the best way possible. My conscience is clear. It is not about revenge, it is about accountability.”

This marks the first time Harry has gone into detail publicly about the criticism surrounding Spare.

Meghan Markle’s Influence

For the first time, Harry also acknowledged Meghan Markle’s input before the book was published. According to the Duke, the Duchess advised him to “just stick to the truth.”

Harry described that as “the most efficient way to live,” adding: “It is the thing I always fall back on. Always.”

In the same interview, Harry appeared to take a subtle swipe at his brother, Prince William, saying: “You cannot have reconciliation before you have truth.”

Reunion With King Charles

The remarks followed Harry’s recent meeting with King Charles at Clarence House in London, where the pair shared tea for 54 minutes – their first meeting in 19 months.

Harry revealed that his “focus really has to be on my dad” in the coming year, hinting at a desire to spend more time with the monarch. Reports suggest he came to the meeting with photos of his children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, in an effort to strengthen family bonds.

Signs of Reconciliation

Insiders believe the Duke, who turns 41 this week, is making his most serious attempt yet at mending ties. One source told the Mirror: “It’s become clear that Harry now regrets some of his actions. He wants to reset his relationship with his family and with the people of the UK. It’s hard to see (Harry) ever coming back to live in Britain, but this may be the start of something that at least allows them to be a functioning wider family again.”

Alongside his personal revelations, Harry is in Ukraine to highlight the work of the Invictus Games Foundation and to support veterans who have suffered life-altering injuries since the war with Russia began three years ago.

On Christmas dinner night, my daughter ran up to knock on the door, her little hands trembling with excitement. My sister opened it, sighed, and muttered, “What is she doing here? Please, we don’t want any trouble tonight.” My daughter came back to me in tears. “Aunt said she doesn’t want us here, Mommy.” I walked up and knocked again, my heart pounding, ready to confront her. My mother appeared beside her and said coldly, “Tonight is for real family only — take the kids and don’t come back.” Through the doorway, I saw them all — my whole family — laughing and chatting around the glowing Christmas tree and the perfect holiday feast. I just nodded, forcing a small smile, and whispered, “I understand.” Ten minutes later, my father burst through the door, shouting my name — his face as pale as snow
