Kate Middleton reveals her son Prince Louis’ quirky but adorable hobby

The Princess of Wales recently shared a charming detail about her youngest son, Prince Louis—and it’s a little quirky.

During an outing with US First Lady Melania Trump on Thursday (September 18), Kate, 43, opened up about Louis’ latest passion, and it’s not what you might expect.

Prince Louis’ Love for Conkers

While most children might be drawn to sports, art, or toy collections, Louis has developed a fondness for something a bit different—conkers. Much like his father, Prince William, and grandfather, King Charles, Louis enjoys spending time outdoors, and conker collecting has become his latest obsession.

According to Kate, her 7-year-old son’s fascination runs so deep that she often finds the shiny brown seeds scattered around the house. “We keep finding conkers in cupboards, in his bed – conkers everywhere!” she laughed while speaking to Chief Scout Dwayne Fields in the gardens of Frogmore House.

She added that Louis even loads the conkers into his toy vehicles and plays with them, turning his collection into part of his games.

Kate’s Outing with Melania Trump

The sweet revelation came while Kate was hosting a group of Squirrel Scouts alongside Mrs. Trump. The two women joined the children in outdoor activities to help them earn their Go Wild badges, crouching down to chat, working on crafts, and even joining a parachute game.

The children were treated to oat and cranberry biscuits from the royal kitchens, made with honey from Kate’s beehives at Anmer Hall. Mrs. Trump also brought jars of White House honey for each child to take home. Lunchboxes, filled with sandwiches, fruit, and veggie sticks, were prepared under the Princess’s guidance.

Kate’s Warm Interaction with the Scouts

According to The Mirror, Kate fully engaged with the children, asking questions and encouraging their creativity. While looking at a cardboard bug hotel the youngsters were making, she asked: “I like bees, do you think bees will come into your hotel?”

She followed up with another question: “Where can they make their honey?” One little boy pointed to the bottom of the structure and replied, “Down here.”

Kate also took time to admire and discuss the children’s drawings, making the interaction both playful and personal.

A Princess Leading by Example

Chief Scout Dwayne Fields praised Kate’s involvement, saying: “Having someone with the profile of the Princess of Wales as joint president, you can imagine it’s incredible for the young people to see her. I think it’s a great thing to have her shine a light on the movement.”

Between her role with the Scouts and her lighthearted stories about Louis, Kate once again showed her ability to connect with children—not just as a royal figure but as a mother who delights in the little things.
