‘Really the only sensible choice’: Prince Harry’s plan to ‘register’ six-year-old Archie at Eton College may put him on a collision course with Prince William

Prince Harry’s inner circle has revealed that the Duke of Sussex has made a major decision regarding six-year-old Archie’s education—one that could draw him back to Britain and set up more potential encounters with Prince William.

Reports claim Harry has enrolled his son at Eton College, the prestigious boys’ boarding school attended by both him and William. The move would place Archie alongside William’s children in the years ahead, raising the possibility of renewed contact between the estranged brothers.

Following Family Tradition

Harry, 41, now based in Montecito, California with Meghan Markle and their two children, is said to be revisiting his old alma mater for Archie. He attended Eton between 1998 and 2003, a school founded by his ancestor King Henry VI and famed for producing royals, prime ministers, and influential leaders.

The school’s rigorous security and seven-day boarding structure are thought to make it particularly appealing for the Sussexes.

“For both William and Harry, Eton is really the only sensible choice when it comes to British schools because of security,” a former schoolmate told The Royalist, claiming Harry had already “registered” Archie. “There are so many high-profile and politically exposed kids there that the whole school has ridiculous security provisions already… so why shouldn’t Archie?”

Another friend added: “It’s fair to say he had mixed feelings about the school when he left, but looking back on it, he can appreciate the good.”

Harry’s Reflections on Eton

In his memoir Spare, Harry described his time at Eton as “a profound shock,” calling it “heaven for brilliant boys” but “purgatory for one very unbrilliant boy.” He also admitted William largely ignored him during their overlapping years there, despite William reportedly thriving and being described by a former classmate as “very integrated” and “like a homecoming king.”

Eton for the Next Generation

It is widely believed that William and Princess Catherine have already secured a place for their eldest son, Prince George, who is set to start at Eton next year. If Prince Louis, seven, follows, he would only be a year ahead of Archie, increasing the chances of the cousins sharing school life.

This potential overlap could force more interaction between William and Harry, who have had little contact since Harry and Meghan stepped back from royal duties in 2020. Harry’s recent solo trip to the UK included a meeting with King Charles, but the brothers did not reunite.

Community, Family, and Security

British singer Joss Stone, who saw Harry at the WellChild Awards in London last week, shared: “He was saying how wonderful the schools are here and how important community is for children.

It was nice to share that with him because it’s exactly why we felt drawn to come back—for the kids to grow up surrounded by family, friends, and a strong sense of belonging and most importantly in a safe environment.”

Despite the mounting speculation, Harry’s representatives dismissed the claims. Speaking to SkyNews.com.au, they stated: “Prince Harry has not put his son’s name down for Eton, nor does he have any plans to do so.”
