A mother gets viral attention for the shirt she made her son wear to school.

A Texas mother decided to teach her son a lesson after discovering something important about his personality. The child was causing trouble at school. Administrators at the school he attended approached his mother and explained that he was a bully to other pupils.

The Texas mother claimed that her kid went down the wrong path and was calling other children “idiots” and “stupid,” so she decided to have her bully son wear a T-shirt that read, “I am a BULLY.” Mom wants her son to be identified as a bully at Greenleaf Elementary School in his community.

She was aware that other children at the school had learned that her son was a terrible person to other students. However, she wanted everyone to know that she believed them, so she forced her son to wear a humiliating T-shirt in front of hundreds of people at school, not to mention thousands of people online who saw his mother’s Facebook post. See the image of the shirt below.

“He was calling other boys stupid (and) calling them idiots,” the Texas mom, Star, who asked that she be identified by her first name only, told KTRK-TV. “I’m a very old-school parent. I don’t coddle my children. I don’t sugarcoat the world to them.”

Star wanted as many people as possible to know that her son was a bully, so she posted a picture of the boy wearing the T-shirt to her Facebook account. Star wrote, “I posted it to reach out to the parents of any of the kids my son may have bullied so that each one of them couId get a personal apology.”

Although some people believed Star went too far in punishing her bully kid, she stuck by her actions and defended herself against internet criticism. “I wanted to know what he learned from it, and he said, ‘I learned that I didn’t like the way that that felt, and I don’t want anybody else to feel that way because of me,’” Star went on to say. “That’s exactIy what I wanted him to take from it.” Professionals in the field of child development disagree with Star’s punishment.

Despite the fact that her son was a bully who was causing harm to other children, a child psychiatrist at Baylor College of Medicine criticized Star’s care of him. “It’s not a good idea to embarrass your child and reinforce a negative identity in an elementary school child,” the child psychiatrist added.

“She needs to find somebody to help her, and I think the school is one resource.” Star faced criticism on social media and the internet, but she stated that her son’s school system supported her decision. The school noted that “parents have the right to make important decisions and take certain actions on behalf of their child.” What are your thoughts on this mother’s punishment of her bully son?
