Tips and Tricks

I haven’t eaten for 25 years and have forbidden all my family from eating: Uric acid no longer bothers me.

I’m 72 years old, and for the past 25 years there’s been one food I’ve completely banned from my life—and from my husband’s, children’s, and even grandchildren’s diets.

Some call it tyranny. I call it care. Because I believe this single ban is why no one in my family wakes up with stiff joints, mysterious swelling, or troubling blood tests.

I’m a retired biochemist. My career was dedicated to studying how food becomes energy—or waste—inside our cells. During that time, I made a discovery that changed everything: one popular “harmless” food actually sparks a biochemical storm, flooding the body with uric acid. That’s when I decided to cut it out forever.

The Real Culprit: Industrial Fructose

Many people suspect red meat or organ meats because of their purines. But the true enemy is concentrated, industrial fructose. I don’t mean the natural fructose inside an apple—protected by fiber—but the added sugars hiding in:

Sweetened drinks and juices (even labeled “100%”)

Candy, baked goods, jams

Yogurts with fruit flavorings

Sauces, ketchup, marinades

Honey and syrups consumed in excess

This hidden sweetener disguises itself as harmless but wreaks havoc inside the body.

Blow #1: The Liver Becomes a Uric Acid Factory

Imagine your liver as a factory. Glucose is easy to process. But when fructose enters, the liver scrambles to convert it into fat—and in the process, pumps out uric acid.

That glass of “healthy” juice? It triggers the very chemical reaction behind gout attacks. Instead of protecting our health, we unknowingly damage it.

Blow #2: Blood Vessel Damage and Bad Cholesterol

The fat created from fructose—triglycerides—flows into the bloodstream, raising cholesterol and fueling chronic inflammation. Uric acid crystals then scrape vessel walls like sandpaper, creating the perfect setup for plaque, hypertension, and atherosclerosis.

Over the years, I saw the same pattern in patients: too much fructose leads to fatty liver, high triglycerides, vessel damage, and heart disease.

Blow #3: Endless Hunger and Weight Gain

Unlike glucose, fructose barely triggers leptin—the hormone that signals fullness. You can down hundreds of calories in juice and still feel hungry. This fuels overeating, weight gain, and joint strain, all while uric acid levels rise.

But What About Fruit?

I never banned fruit. Whole fruits are balanced by fiber, which slows absorption and supports gut health. My rule is simple:

2–3 whole, low-sugar fruits a day (green apples, kiwi, grapefruit, or berries) are beneficial.

Juices, smoothies, and dried fruits are concentrated sugar bombs. Fruit should be chewed, not drunk.

Breaking Free From the “Sweet Needle”

So the product I eliminated wasn’t meat, but industrial fructose. Removing sweet drinks and processed desserts relieves the liver, lowers uric acid, and ends the cycle of hidden hunger.

Yes, it’s hard to give up sugar at first. But within weeks, you’ll feel lighter, more energetic, and free from pain. This isn’t a diet—it’s true liberation.

Try it, and see the difference for yourself. And tell me: which foods surprised you most with their hidden sugar? Let’s build a “blacklist” together.
