I Rented an Apartment to My Husband’s Mistress—Their Next Date There Changed Everything

Having built a successful career in real estate, Mila enjoyed a life of luxury she had always dreamed of.

Her husband, Richard, appeared supportive and charming, but beneath the surface, their marriage was crumbling. He had grown distant, his warmth replaced by cold indifference.

One morning, as she prepared breakfast, she attempted to rekindle their connection. “How about a trip this weekend?” she asked hopefully.

Richard, eyes fixed on his phone, barely acknowledged her. “I’m busy. There’s a conference in the city,” he muttered.

Disappointed, Mila nodded. But when his phone lit up with a message from “Carol” followed by a heart emoji, unease settled in.

“Who’s texting you?” she asked casually.

“Just a colleague,” he replied dismissively.

Pushing aside her suspicion, Mila focused on work. That afternoon, she met a client interested in renting a high-end apartment for the weekend. When she opened the door, she froze—standing before her was Carol, the woman from Richard’s phone.

With a confident smile, Carol introduced herself. “Thank you for accommodating me on such short notice.”

Mila forced a polite smile. “Of course. What brings you to the city?”

Carol’s eyes sparkled. “A romantic getaway with my boyfriend. He’s amazing—charming, successful. I can’t wait for him to see this place!”

Mila’s heart pounded. She knew exactly who Carol’s boyfriend was.

Maintaining her composure, she completed the tour, handed over the keys, and pocketed a spare. She needed a plan.

That evening, Mila called Richard. “Excited for your conference?” she asked.

“Yeah, it’s a lot of work,” he replied absentmindedly.

Hanging up, she clenched the steering wheel. His deception would end.

Determined, she tracked down Carol’s boyfriend, Ethan, through social media. The next night, they arrived at the apartment together. Inside, laughter echoed from the bedroom. Taking a deep breath, Mila nodded at Ethan before pushing the door open.

Richard and Carol turned pale, scrambling for excuses. “Mila?” Richard stammered. “What are you doing here?”

“I could ask you the same,” Mila shot back. She turned to Carol. “So, you must be the ‘colleague’?”

Ethan glared at Carol. “You told me you were visiting your sister.”

Carol’s face drained of color. “It’s not what it looks like.”

“Oh, it’s exactly what it looks like,” Mila said coldly. She tossed a folder onto the bed. “Here are the divorce papers. My lawyer will be in touch. And don’t worry—I’m keeping the house.”

Ethan looked at Carol in disgust. “It’s over. Don’t contact me again.”

As Mila walked out, she felt lighter. She had confronted the betrayal and refused to be a victim.

Weeks later, her divorce finalized, she thrived in her career, embracing her independence. One evening, her phone buzzed with a message from Richard, begging for another chance.

Without hesitation, she deleted it. Taking a sip of wine, she gazed at the city skyline, feeling a peace she hadn’t known in years. She had won—not just over Richard, but over the doubts that once held her back.
