Maine Boy, 3, Found Dead in the Snow by Dad After He Was Reported Missing — Details

A family member of a grieving family, who recently lost their young son, has created a GoFundMe page to help cover medical and funeral expenses.

On January 12, 2025, after a 3-year-old boy was reported missing in Corinna, Maine, officials from the Maine Department of Public Safety confirmed his passing. The boy’s father found him outside in the snow near their home. State officials suspect the child succumbed to exposure to the harsh winter conditions, though the official cause of death will be confirmed after an autopsy by the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office.

The incident began when the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office received a call around 8:30 a.m. from a woman reporting her young nephew missing from a home on Exeter Road. Shortly after, the boy’s father made the tragic discovery. “Regretfully, the male child succumbed to injuries which appear to be consistent with exposure to the elements,” stated officials.

Authorities have assured the public this was an isolated incident and there are no ongoing safety concerns.

In a statement, a spokesperson for the Maine Department of Health and Human Services expressed deep sorrow, saying, “The loss of a child is devastating and tragic. Our condolences are with the family and those impacted.”

Due to confidentiality laws and the sensitive nature of the case, further comments were withheld. News Center Maine reports that the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit, with the support of the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office and Maine DHHS, is leading the investigation.

To assist the grieving family, the boy’s aunt, Desiree Ambrose, initiated a GoFundMe campaign for funeral, memorial, and medical costs.

The GoFundMe page features a touching photo of the joyful boy with his mother, his curly blonde hair and cheerful smile capturing the happiness he brought to his loved ones. “The sudden and unexpected loss of this 3-year-old boy has left his mom, dad, and two siblings completely heartbroken,” wrote Ambrose in her heartfelt appeal.

She continued, “He was such a strong, loving, caring, funny, happy little boy. He loved his family unconditionally and was loved back by everyone who knew him. He passed away 1/12/2025 due to a horrific incident.”

Ambrose pleaded, “Please, anyone. Everything and anything is very much appreciated. Thank you, and please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers as we continue this long journey to get this little boy to rest where he belongs, at home with his family.” The campaign has a goal of $10,000 and has raised $5,590 from 142 donations so far.

Ambrose also shared the GoFundMe page on Facebook, seeking financial support for the family during this devastating time.

Among the heartfelt comments on her post was an emotional message from the boy’s mother, Jada Haddad. “Thank you for doing this for Joesiah, Desiree Ambrose,” Haddad expressed.

Haddad revealed her immense pain and emptiness, writing, “I can’t wait until my baby boy is home and at rest… home does not feel like home anymore… I feel so empty.”

On January 14, 2025, a day after Ambrose posted the GoFundMe campaign, Haddad shared her sister’s post with her own heart-wrenching message.

In her emotional statement, Haddad reiterated her desire to bring her son home to rest, emphasizing the tremendous loss her family is enduring.

“Anything helps, even just words of wisdom… prayers… please keep my baby in your thoughts,” the bereaved mother added.

She continued, “It just crushes me… it will never be the same again… home will never be home again.”

Her heartfelt message deeply resonated with many, who offered their support and assistance.

During this incredibly difficult time, we extend our sincerest condolences to Haddad, the boy’s father, siblings, and loved ones as they mourn this tragic loss. We hope for their healing during this period of grief.
