Meghan Markle Shares Never-Before-Seen Photo of Daughter Princess Lilibet, 3, to Mark International Women’s Day

Meghan Markle has shared a never-before-seen photo of her daughter, Princess Lilibet, as part of an Instagram post celebrating International Women’s Day.

The image, posted on Saturday, March 8, features her 3-year-old daughter on a boat, nestled in the arms of her father, Prince Harry, with her back turned to the camera.

Alongside the photo, Meghan, 43, wrote, “Happy International Women’s Day! Celebrating the strong women around us & the girls with dreams who will become women with vision. Also thanking those who uplift us every day.”

The post also included a black-and-white childhood photo of Meghan playing with her mother, Doria Ragland, as well as a lighthearted beachside snapshot of Meghan and Harry, 40, laughing together in sunglasses and casual attire.

A Tradition of Celebrating Women

Meghan has consistently recognized International Women’s Day in various ways over the years.

In 2024, she participated in a SXSW panel titled Breaking Barriers, Shaping Narratives: How Women Lead On and Off the Screen. During the discussion, she recalled how, at just 11 years old, she wrote to Procter & Gamble to challenge their dishwashing soap commercial, which exclusively targeted women.

The previous year, Meghan and members of her Archewell Foundation attended a fundraising event in Los Angeles for Harvest Home, an organization that provides housing, mental health support, and educational resources to expectant mothers facing difficulties such as domestic violence, substance abuse, and homelessness.

To mark the occasion, the Archewell Foundation shared photos from the event on its website, accompanied by a message: “Happy International Women’s Day to all of you! Whether donating your time, funds or helping a woman in your community, let’s all celebrate the women in our lives today and every day!”

Advocating for Women in Media

Meghan’s advocacy for women extends beyond charity work. Her foundation has collaborated with Moms First and the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media to fund a study on how mothers are represented in entertainment.

Reflecting on the project, Meghan stated, “My past experience as an actress, and now today as a producer and mother, have amplified my belief in the critical importance of supporting women and moms both behind the lens and in front of it. This report about the portrayal of mothers in entertainment highlights the gaps we need to fill to achieve true representation in the content we create and consume, and I’m honored to support this work through the Archewell Foundation.”

Through her public platform and philanthropic efforts, Meghan continues to champion women’s representation, empowerment, and equality.
