Prince Harry’s 5-word verdict on twerking video that’s set the internet alight

A wave of surprise swept through the HELLO! office on Wednesday evening as Meghan Markle posted a playful video of herself and Prince Harry dancing in the hospital during Princess Lilibet’s birth.

The video, which quickly stirred debate online, features the Duchess of Sussex dancing—complete with a twerk—while Harry joins in with some moves of his own.

A Glimpse Into Their Labor Room Ritual

The clip gives followers a candid peek at Meghan’s experience in the delivery room, participating in the viral “Baby Mama dance” in an effort to kick-start labor. Lilibet was born a week after her due date.

“Both of our children were a week past their due dates… so when spicy food, all that walking, and acupuncture didn’t work, there was only one thing left to do!” Meghan wrote alongside the video.

As usual, Prince Harry didn’t take himself too seriously. He appeared laid-back and cheerful, pulling his hoodie over his head and dancing alongside Meghan with ease.

Harry’s Perspective on Lilibet’s Birth

Although the video is new to fans, Prince Harry had already described the light-hearted moment in his autobiography Spare. In his words, they “ate and ate and then did the Baby Mama dance around the hospital room,” summing up the day Lilibet arrived with, “Nothing but joy and love.”

By the time Lilibet was born in 2021, the couple had become more comfortable with overdue arrivals. Harry also mentioned Archie’s delayed birth in the book: “Meg’s doctor had tried several homeopathic ways to get things moving, but our little visitor was just intent on staying put. (I don’t remember if we ever tried Granny’s suggestion of a bumpy car ride.)”

Meghan’s Passion for Natural Remedies

Meghan has long been a fan of holistic health practices, and Prince Harry recounted several instances where she shared her passion with others—including Prince William. In Spare, Harry wrote about a dinner they hosted for the Prince and Princess of Wales, where Meghan noticed William had a cold.

“Willy had a cold: he was sneezing and coughing, and Meg ran upstairs to get him some of her homeopathic cure-alls. Oregano oil, turmeric,” he recalled. “He seemed charmed, moved, though Kate announced to the table that he’d never take such unconventional remedies.”

A Continued Commitment to Alternative Health

Though natural remedies didn’t speed up Archie or Lilibet’s arrivals, Meghan has continued to embrace unconventional health practices. In her Confessions of a Female Founder podcast, she spoke about her use of “adaptogens” such as mushrooms, acknowledging that some might view these supplements as “a little psychedelic and super woo-woo.”

Still, whatever works for Meghan earns a thumbs up in our book.
