Prince William and Kate Middleton make surprising decision on Princess Charlotte’s future: report

Prince William and Princess Kate have reportedly decided that Princess Charlotte will attend a different high school than her older brother, Prince George, once they reach that stage in their education, according to insiders.

Charlotte is said to be considering Marlborough College in Wiltshire, England — the same school her mother attended, the Daily Mail reports.

Following in Kate’s Footsteps

The Princess of Wales, now 43, was a student at Marlborough before she went on to meet William at the University of St. Andrews.

Marlborough has also educated other royal-connected figures, including Princess Eugenie and Kate’s sister, Pippa Middleton. The school has long been viewed as a potential choice for Charlotte as well as Prince Louis, the youngest of the three Wales children.

Prince George Bound for Eton

Prince George, who turns 12 in July, is set to begin at Eton College this coming September. The $82,000-per-year boys’ boarding school has a deep royal legacy — both Prince William and Prince Harry attended the prestigious institution. George is currently enrolled at Lambrook School in Berkshire along with Charlotte and Louis. The school is located close to their family’s home at Adelaide Cottage in Windsor Home Park.

According to sources, the decision to send George to Eton has already been made, and staff at the college are quietly confident about the upcoming royal addition.

“I know something and the people at Eton know something, but I’m not going to tell you,” one source said, hinting at William and Kate’s recent visit to the school.

It’s believed that George was registered for Eton years ago, with one insider previously noting, “All roads lead to Eton.”

Different School Experiences for the Royal Brothers

While Prince William reportedly had a positive time at Eton, his younger brother Prince Harry had a much different experience. In his 2023 memoir Spare, Harry described his time at the school as difficult, citing poor academic performance and feeling out of place. He ultimately bypassed university altogether and went straight into military training at Sandhurst.

Harry wrote that Eton “was heaven for brilliant boys,” but “purgatory for one very unbrilliant boy,” referring to himself.

Still No Formal Announcement

Although Prince George has already toured other schools in North London — including Highgate School — Eton was always considered the top choice due to its legacy and proximity to home. Marlborough, meanwhile, remains a strong contender for Charlotte.

Despite these developments, Kensington Palace has not issued any formal statements regarding the children’s future education plans.
