Queen Camilla ’emotional’ as she faces big royal event with King Charles, William and Kate

Queen Camilla is expected to be deeply moved as she joins King Charles, Prince William, and Princess Kate in commemorating the 80th anniversary of VE Day this May.

The royal family will attend a Service of Thanksgiving at Westminster Abbey, a significant event in honoring those who served in World War II.

While Buckingham Palace has yet to confirm all attendees, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, along with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, are also expected to participate.

Queen Camilla May Feel Emotional at the VE Day Anniversary

Royal expert Jennie Bond highlighted that this occasion will be particularly poignant for Queen Camilla due to her late father, Bruce Shand, who served in WWII.

“It will be emotional for everyone,” Jennie told GB News. “The king will have so many memories of his father’s wartime service and his mother’s short time in the Auxiliary Territorial Service. Camilla will have similar memories of her own father.”

Bruce Shand was captured as a prisoner of war in Germany and was later awarded the Military Cross for bravery during the Battle of Dunkirk. Camilla has spoken fondly of him, recalling how he read bedtime stories to her, sparking her lifelong love of reading.

At last year’s D-Day remembrance service, Camilla was visibly emotional while listening to veterans share their experiences. Jennie believes that King Charles, Camilla, Prince William, and Kate will not hesitate to express their emotions during the commemorations.

“I’m sure they will all find it an emotional occasion. Charles, in particular, finds pageantry and music extremely moving,” she explained. “I don’t think he, Camilla, or William and Catherine will be shy about showing their emotions.”

Jennie also noted that the VE Day anniversary is one of the most important events in the royal calendar this year.

“The handful of veterans will be the centrepiece of the events, of course, but this is a hugely important day for the royal family,” she added. “They all take their links to the military very seriously, even if they have not served.”

Queen Camilla and King Charles Delight Fans in a Heartwarming Video

Meanwhile, a recent video of King Charles and Queen Camilla has delighted royal fans. The couple visited Darjeeling Express, an Indian restaurant owned by British restaurateur Asma Khan, to mark the beginning of Ramadan and celebrate British Muslim women.

The restaurant, known for its charitable work, donates proceeds to charity and provides food packages to hospitals during the holy month.

During their visit, Charles and Camilla helped pack dates, which are traditionally eaten at sunset to break the fast during Ramadan.

A short clip shared on the royal family’s Instagram account captured the couple laughing and enjoying each other’s company as they carefully placed dates into small bags. Fans were charmed by the moment.

“They’re too funny, looks like they’re genuinely enjoying each other,” one fan commented.

“Such a lovely couple,” another added.

“Love these two who can laugh and clearly enjoy each other’s company,” a third fan wrote.
