Tips and Tricks

This device must be turned off

Every month, when we receive our electricity bill, we mourning, “Why are the prices going up? “I obviously use a lot of electricity!”

In reality, there is a “electricity thief” at home. It covertly consumes our electricity all day, causing our power bill to rise. This is the television set-top box we use every day!

You may find it hard to believe, how can a small set-top box (STB – Television signal decoder) consume more electricity than an air conditioner?

In fact, this is because the set-top box has a big hidden danger, which is a very high standby power source.

In other words, when we use the remote to switch off the television, the set-top box remains in standby mode and continues to waste electricity.

Furthermore, the power consumption of the set-top box in standby mode and normal operation is nearly identical, implying that if we do not turn off the switch after watching TV every day, it is equal to leaving it on all the time.

The solution is very simple, you just need to turn off the switch on the TV set-top box, or buy a socket with a switch.

When we do not use household appliances, just turn off the power switch. This way, the power supply to the set-top box can be completely cut off, thereby saving a lot on the electricity bill.
