After Trump’s election victory last year, a clip showed him leaning in for a celebratory kiss—only for Melania to offer her cheek instead. Later, at his inauguration, another attempted kiss was reportedly thwarted by the First Lady’s oversized hat.

The “Fake Melania” Conspiracy Resurfaces

Among the more persistent and unusual theories about Melania Trump is the claim that she’s often replaced by a body double during official appearances. Speculation about this alleged swap often focuses on her choice of large hats and oversized sunglasses.

Such theories re-emerged after her appearance at several public events—including West Palm Beach in November, the presidential inauguration, the funeral of Pope Francis, and a recent theater visit.

At the Kennedy Center in Washington, she was seen alongside her husband wearing large sunglasses during a performance of Les Misérables, prompting one online comment: “Sunglasses, that’s fake Melania.”

Others agreed: “Cool to see fake Melania is out and about,” while another person asked, “Why is Fake Melania wearing sunglasses at night again?”

Trump’s Response to the Conspiracy

Although Melania has never addressed the rumors herself, President Trump has pushed back on the claims in the past. In 2019, he tweeted: “The Fake News photoshopped pictures of Melania, then propelled conspiracy theories that it’s actually not her by my side in Alabama and other places. They are only getting more deranged with time!”
