Mom ordered to cover herself up when she breastfeeds

Part 1 of 2

Even in 2022, the controversy over whether women should be allowed to breastfeed in public still sparks heated discussions.

That being said, we can all agree on one thing—covering up during the summer isn’t easy for mothers.

In 2018, Melanie Dudley, a Texas mom with a 3-month-old baby, was enjoying a meal at a restaurant with her family and friends when her little one got hungry and started to fuss. Without hesitation, she began breastfeeding him. While everyone at her table was perfectly fine with it, a stranger sitting nearby seemed uncomfortable with the fact that she wasn’t using a cover.

He walked up to Melanie and told her to cover up. And well, she did—just not in the way the stranger had anticipated.

“I was on vacation in Cabo San Lucas with my entire family, and a man asked me to cover myself. I’m usually discreet but we were seated in the back of the restaurant,” Melanie shared with Yahoo.

The scorching heat made things even more uncomfortable. “I did have the cover on, but it was so hot. It was like, 95 degrees, and my little baby was sweating,” she explained to TODAY.

That’s when she made a decision. “I said, ‘You know what? I’m on vacation, I’m taking this off.’”
