Prince Harry has been accused of taking a subtle shot at Kate Middleton in his memoir, Spare.
The Duke of Sussex published the book in January 2023, where he shared insights into his life within the royal family.
In the memoir, he talks about his relationships with his older brother Prince William, their father King Charles III, and his stepmother Queen Camilla.
For instance, Harry says William knocked him down after overhearing negative comments about Meghan Markle, describing her as ‘difficult,’ ‘rude,’ and ‘abrasive.’
He also made a sensational claim that Meghan supposedly upset Kate with a remark before their 2018 wedding at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle.
It’s reported that the Suits actress was accused of “offending” the Princess of Wales by suggesting she must have been experiencing “baby brain” after forgetting something minor.
“You talked about my hormones. We are not close enough for you to talk about my hormones!” Kate allegedly said, according to Spare.
Royal fans reading the memoir were shocked by several of the book’s revelations. One passage especially caught their attention, where Harry is said to have taken a ‘dig’ at Kate related to one of her pregnancies.
Kate experienced hyperemesis gravidarum (HG) during all three of her pregnancies.
When Harry released Spare, a section about Meghan’s pregnancy caught fans’ attention, making some wonder if he was subtly taking a jab at his sister-in-law.
He wrote, “Days later the pregnancy was announced publicly.”
He added, “The papers said Meg was dealing with fatigue and dizziness and couldn’t keep food down, especially in the mornings — none of which was true.”
“He was clear that Meghan was tired but otherwise full of energy.”
“In fact, she felt fortunate not to have severe morning sickness because they were about to start a very demanding tour.”
On Reddit, one user said: “‘No morning sickness’ sounds like a dig at Princess Catherine, who struggled with severe morning sickness during her pregnancies. Of course, Meg is a dynamo even while pregnant.”
Another commented: “That feels like a jab at anyone with morning sickness — especially hyperemesis gravidarum like Catherine experienced.”
Hyperemesis gravidarum (HG) is a condition marked by extreme nausea and vomiting during pregnancy.
While chatting with Giovanna Fletcher on her podcast Happy Mum, Happy Baby, Kate opened up about her own experience: “I got very bad morning sickness, so I’m not the happiest of pregnant people.”
She admitted it was a tough time: “It was definitely a challenge. Not just for me but also for your loved ones around you – and I think that’s the thing – being pregnant and having a newborn baby and things like that, impacts everybody in the family.”
